Lochlea is an independently owned distillery, originally under the watchful eye of Malcolm Rennie and is now under the management of ex-Laphroaig Distillery Manager John Campbell. The distillery is set up to allow the production of 200,000 litres of alcohol per year.
The distillery is steeped in Scottish history, with Robert Burns calling Lochlea his home from 1777 to 1784, working his days at the farm. Tradition is paramount at Lochlea and the team take full control of the whisky making process including growing their own barely on site.
Lochlea
Sowing Edition (Second Crop)
The second crop of the Sowing Edition from Lochlea distillery, is the first release for 2023 in Lochlea's annual four small-batch bottlings. Each of these bottles showcase the farm in a different light, moving with the seasons. In Spring you should expect a bright, fresh dram, packed with fruit to highlight spring's burst into life while the team are sowing the seed for this year's barley.
This limited release is matured in 100% first-fill bourbon casks from higher up in the warehouse to the 2022 release.
